In conversation with: Wemoto

(Interview in Englisch)

Hi Stefan! Tell me something about yourself and the brand.

Hi, my name is Stefan. I'm the co-founder and designer of Wemoto Clothing. Our brand was founded back in 2003 by Patrick Lotz and me. We started as an artwork, T-shirt and sweatshirt brand.

In 2010, we decided to develop further and wanted to do our very own garments, which means we began to design outerwear, shirting and bottoms. It was also the starting point for our women's line which we are developing with a lot of love since then.

How would you describe your working style?

Ordered chaos I would say. We want to be as creative as possible but want to fulfill the obligations to our trading partner at the same time. These are often opposites, but I think that we get it together in a relaxed way.

How do you choose between all your ideas and make sure that a customer likes them too?

When it comes to artworks, we first sit together with our team and do some research on what subjects we want to work on. After we have made a choice on what we want to work on, we are doing a bit more detail and choosing shapes and colors and stuff like that.

To be honest, you can never be sure whether the customer will like it, but I think that we have developed a good sense for the taste of our audience.

What do you see as big future trends in womenswear?

To be colorful and playful on all kinds of garments. At the moment we are doing a lot of colorful jacquard knits and ecovero viscose fabrics with big floral and abstract artworks on it.

How does our store align with your brand?

I think very well. Street-Files carries a great selection of Scandinavian and outdoor brands, which we fit in very well with our more colorful and playful approach in doing garments. So, I think we are in general a good addition to your portfolio.

How would you describe your partnership with Street-Files?

We know each other for almost 15 years now and we clicked from the first moment on. I would definitely say that it's more a friendship than a business relationship. Every time we meet, we have a really great time and we both know how to party.

Do you have any memorable moments with Street-Files?

Back in 2010 we drove down to Zurich for an event. We even did a recap video that drives you down memory lane.

Good old times! Thank you.
